This page is for simulating mass battles in a role-playing game without going clinically insane. It is based on the mass-battles logic provided in the Savage Worlds system. It is used without permission (yet) but with respect.

Battles in this system are divided into two sides, top and bottom. You specify the quantity of each troop, and define a relative 'worth' between troop types. Example, the top side has a five trained soldiers along with a mass of seventy villagers they've managed to stir up. Each soldier is worth 3 villagers. Put Villagers first, seventy villagers at a worthiness of 1. Next put Soldiers, five of them at a worthiness of 3. It gets factored into the calculated Power of each side's forces.

Next, you can set any modifiers to the battle for either side. The relative sizes is calculated for you, but bonuses for terrain, air support, magical backing, and what have you are entirely up to you.

As this is for a role-playing game rather than a wargame, it's assumed there will be characters taking part. For each character, you assign their action for the skirmish and their skill at that action. This can be changed between skirmishes.

Finally, you set the general of each side's knowledge (battle) value.

Each skirmish will be presented to you, giving you the option of changing the character actions or calling for a retreat. The combat will continue until either side retreats or is destroyed.
